October 6th Aeration
We would like to take this opportunity to remind all of our
club members that the golf course will be closed for play on Monday, October 6th,
in order to facilitate both green and fairway aeration associated with top dressing
as originally scheduled. These procedures
are necessary for the short and long term health of the turf and even though
highly disruptive in nature, must be performed twice per season (fairways are
only aerated once per season). You may
also recall back in April, the decision not hollow core aerate greens was made
to mitigate playing disruption; as a result this fall aeration will be that
much more important going into the winter months.

Greens Procedure
As all of you may be aware The Harvest Golf Club did forgo
the hollow core aeration procedure that was originally scheduled in April. One of the major attributes of aeration is to
release ground compaction and provide the opportunity for the root system to
receive nutrients and become healthier.
