October 6th Aeration

We would like to take this opportunity to remind all of our club members that the golf course will be closed for play on Monday, October 6^th, in order to facilitate both green and fairway aeration associated with top dressing as originally scheduled.  These procedures are necessary for the short and long term health of the turf and even though highly disruptive in nature, must be performed twice per season (fairways are only aerated once per season).  You may also recall back in April, the decision not hollow core aerate greens was made to mitigate playing disruption; as a result this fall aeration will be that much more important going into the winter months. 

You may also be aware that many neighboring clubs have performed their aerations program either in August or early this month.  From an agronomic perspective these would be considered ideal times to help maximize recovery. We believe that the golf course playability for your complete enjoyment, while maximizing the club revenue opportunity is far more critical from May through September. By performing aerations in October, recuperation of the putting surfaces is slower, however, minimizes disruptions to members/guests as October experiences considerably less traffic caused by lower temperatures and shorter daylight.      

Please note that tee box and green approach aeration will take place on Wednesday, September 24^th and Thursday, September 25^th.  This should have virtually no effect on playability and cause minimal/no disruption.  In order to accommodate this process, all players will be teeing off the back nine on Wednesday, September 24^th and as normal of the front nine on the 25^th.
